Salams
Weddings always seem to bring out the true colours in people. Never have I seen muslims behave in such a strange manner. What I mention here is not merely a result of attending a particular wedding, but over the course of many.
I'm sure we all agree that weddings take up a good amount of preparation and effort. Why is it then that those that attend want a personalised tailored wedding according to how they see fit? The hosts in most cases go through a huge effort to accomodate everybody, yet there is always a minority (some might say majority!) who feel the 'need to speak out' even if its not for themself, and thereby cause a nuisance to the hosts. One example of this was one individual saying they wanted something else to eat because they already had rice the day before! Another common one, asking for more food of a particular type, without sparing a thought for those who have yet to dine.
In most cases the ones causing the nuisance seem to be relations of the family hosting the wedding. If as family, we cannot extend some courteousy on these sorts of occassions, where things may not be perfect as we see it, then what hope do we have as a muslim ummah??
It all boils down to Selfishness & Arrogance, both of these which the Holy Prophet (pbuh) warned us about. Let us take a good look at no one but ourselves and try to curb & eliminate this cancerous diesease afflicting us today.
Please have a listen to the Islamic talk above by Shaykh Riyadh on Selfishness.

Allah is the best of planners
Salam-Alaykum,
My grandmother passed away here in the early hours of Sun morning. Janazah will Inshallah be today. Been busy at the home of the deceased and I dont get back till late at night. Yesterday was the first time I checked mail since sat morning as well.
Some Ahaedeeth from Riyadu Saliheen
574. Ibn 'Umar said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, took me by the shoulder and said, 'Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveller on the road."
Ibn 'Umar used to say, "In the evening, do not anticipate the morning, and in the morning do not anticipate the evening. Take from your health for your illness and from your life for your death." [al-Bukhari]
577. Ibn Mas'ud said, "The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, drew lines making a square and then drew a line in the middle which extended beyond it. He drew some small lines up to this middle line from the side within the square and said, 'This is man, and this is end of his lifespan which encircles him - or by which he is encircled - and this which goes beyond it is his hope and these small lines are things that happen. If this one misses him, that one gets him, and if that one misses him, this one gets him.'" [al-Bukhari] This is its form:
579. Abu Hurayra reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Remember frequently the thing that cuts off pleasures," i.e. death." [at-Tirmidhi]
I have updated the Realplayer Islamic talk, please do listen to it and leave feedback stating so.
Please make dua for maghfirat for all the muslims who have passed away.

Gym & A note from Satan
Salam Alaykum,
This week I visited the gym, Over the past few weeks it has come under new management being taken over by a muslim family. Alhumdulillah, they have taken out the music (on hifi and TV) from downstairs in the mens gym and yesterday I even saw a book titled 'Music Exposed' on the coffee table in reception/ foyer area. Unfortunately though, it seems as though there are a few non muslim women upstairs adament that they need to have the music loud enough to compete with a nightclub so they can have a good workout. As muslims we can approach the management of the gym and request that they turn the music off and perhaps put it onto a radio talk station (5 live etc) instead.
Given that the management is keen to implement shariah at the gym, the time is now ripe to make our concern be heard, so please all with great love and respect forward your suggestions to them.Make sure that we dont adopt our issue of sitting back and complaining to others about the issues, but rather we attempt to make a difference by adopting speach which could lead to a positive outcome. If we cant bring ourselves to do even this, then at the very least make duah that this venture is successful in providing a much overdue service to the muslim community of Leicester.
Valentines day is not far off now, school & College kids may feel under pressure from their peers around this time for being 'left out', all I can say is that count yourself fortunate and do Shukr that Allah swt has saved you from this crazy, commercial event which the masses on a global scale blindly adopt. As for Islams stance on Valentines day see the following articles on Leicester Muslims.
Please remember me in your duahs.
Wasalam
A Note from Satan
The day has come
When I, Satan, will play you dumb
To approach 'The girl/ boy' is hard
so today break the ice with a card
You will send it to them with zeal
finally they will know how you feel
Oh Muslim dont you see
I watch you with glee
For now I have you trapped
Your heart once inclined towards Allah, I have snatched
I have now started you off on the slippery road
To Jahannam the dreadful abode.
Enjoy your Valentines day!
