At the Mall

Shopping Mall

AT THE MALL
by Ahmed
Young girls and boys I do see
Taken in by the Satan so gullibly

Taking half the morning to prepare
In front of the mirror perfecting your hair

Then putting on THE fresh ‘garms’
Getting ready with your sweet charms

Lastly you stop and at yourself in the mirror you stare
Saying to yourself ‘Baby I’m bad, you know I got flair’

Telling your parents you’re off to the library
Quickly from your home you flee

Straight to the shopping centre you go
With your mates you get into the flow

Hanging out all day at the mall
Hoping to pull and haul

Eyeing up that girl or guy
Whom you think looks so fly

Walking up and down, checking the scene
Each time it is the same routine

Don’t you realise for the Akhirah we must prepare
The clothes of Jannah don’t you want to wear?

Why then don’t you stop this charade
Go sit with the pious, don’t be afraid

And gain the pleasure of your Lord
Inshallah, Jannah will be your eternal reward!

Sahih Muslim Book 004, Number 1416:
Abu Huraira reported that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: The parts of land dearest to Allah are its mosques, and the parts most hateful to Allah are markets.

Jazakallah to Abdul bhai for providing the hadith.

I thought this poem would be received well now as the summer holidays are just starting out and young Muslims in general have too much free time on their hands! If you know of someone that might like to read this poem, email the post to them using the 'Email post' icon below.

Jazakallah
